提线木偶戏古称悬丝傀儡，闽南俗称嘉礼，又名线戏，

是一门古老的汉族传统艺术。

木偶戏演起来，可比真人难多了。

除了每个角色都有个性化的服饰与妆发外，

还要配合角色性格设计表演一整套动作，

这繁复的动作都要靠操控提线来完成。

木偶戏起源于秦汉时期，

在古代，人们相信木偶可以与神灵对话，

每逢婚丧嫁娶或者大型庆典，

艺人们都会奉上一出精彩的木偶表演，

向神灵传达人们的心愿。

艺人在表演木偶戏时必须“一心多用”，

以独特的“傀儡调”唱出台词，

同时每根手指控制1到3根提线，

以实现各种舞蹈姿势和武打动作。

大型提线木偶剧《赵氏孤儿》，

取材于我国古典四大悲剧，

在表演过程中实现了碾药、拔剑、连续甩发等高难度动作，

泉州提线木偶戏，

至今已保留了七百多出传统剧目，

Quanzhou String Puppet Show

A string puppet show, as the name suggests,

involves manipulating marionettes by string.

Originating in Southeast China's Fujian province,

the Quanzhou string puppet show is an old art performed by the Han ethnic group.

It is called Jiali in the south Fujian dialect.

Directing puppets is more difficult than real actors.

Each puppet has personalized costumes and makeup,

with each complex movement determining their roles.

Puppet shows originated over 2,000 years ago during the Qin and Han dynasties (221 BC–220 AD).

In ancient times,

people believed puppets could talk to gods or spirits.

So, at weddings, funerals, or grand celebrations,

performers would stage a puppet show to convey people’s wishes to the gods or spirits.

A performer usually "multi-tasks":

singing the character’s lines in a unique "puppet tune" while manipulating one to three strings with each finger,

to achieve various poses and martial arts actions.

The Orphan of Zhao puppet show is based on a Chinese classical tragedy.

Difficult moves like grinding medicines, drawing a sword,

and spinning hair were adopted in the show,

bringing a touching legend to life by marionettes.

More than 700 traditional Quanzhou puppet shows have been preserved.
